Our 9-Step Rug Cleaning Process
Every rug that comes through our facility receives the same thorough, carefully sequenced cleaning treatment — no shortcuts, no exceptions.
How We Clean Your Rug
Our process is designed to deliver the deepest possible clean while protecting your rug's fibres, colours, and structure.
Inspection & Assessment
We begin every job with a thorough inspection. We identify the rug's material (wool, silk, synthetic, cotton, or blends), its construction method (hand-knotted, hand-tufted, machine-made, flat-weave), and check for existing damage, colour bleeding risk, or fragile areas. This step determines the correct cleaning method for your specific rug.
Dry Soil Removal & Dusting
Before any water touches your rug, we remove as much dry soil as possible. We use professional rug dusters and beaters to agitate and extract embedded dry particles from deep within the pile. A standard vacuum cannot reach the deep-set grit that causes fibres to wear and break over time — our dusting process does.
Pre-Treatment & Spot Treatment
We apply targeted pre-treatment solutions to stained or heavily soiled areas. Pet urine spots, wine stains, food marks, and oil-based stains all receive specific treatments formulated to break down and lift the specific type of stain. We test any new solution on a discreet corner of your rug first to confirm colour safety.
Full Immersion Hand Washing
Your rug is fully submerged in clean water and hand-washed using professional-grade, biodegradable shampoo formulated for your rug's specific fibre type. We work the solution through the pile with soft brushes, mimicking the gentle technique used on quality hand-made rugs. This is the core of our cleaning process — a thorough soak-and-wash that surface cleaners simply cannot replicate.
Thorough Rinsing
We rinse your rug thoroughly — multiple times — to ensure every trace of cleaning solution is removed. Residual shampoo left in the pile can attract new dirt faster and cause fibres to feel stiff or sticky. We rinse until the water runs completely clear.
Centrifuge Water Extraction
After rinsing, your rug is placed in our industrial centrifuge spinner to remove the vast majority of water quickly and gently. This dramatically reduces drying time and prevents issues like mildew or colour migration that can occur when a saturated rug sits for extended periods. The centrifuge is much gentler on rug fibres than heavy wringing or pressing.
Climate-Controlled Drying
Your rug is hung and dried in our temperature-controlled drying room. Controlled airflow and temperature are carefully managed to ensure even, thorough drying that prevents shrinkage, warping, and mould growth. We never use harsh heat that can damage delicate fibres or bleach colours. Drying time varies by rug thickness and construction.
Final Inspection & Grooming
Once dry, your rug is laid flat for a thorough final inspection. We check that all stains have been addressed, the pile is even and upright, the colours are true, and the rug is free of any odour. We groom the pile to ensure it looks its best before packaging.

Your clean, fresh rug is carefully wrapped in breathable packaging to protect it during transport. We contact you to arrange a delivery time that suits you, and we return your rug to your home personally. No leaving parcels at the door — we deliver it inside and make sure you're happy before we leave.
