Pet Urine Treatment & Stain Removal for Rugs

Specialist pet urine odour and stain removal for all rug types — safe, effective, and permanent. North Brisbane & Sunshine Coast.

Why Pet Urine is So Difficult to Remove

Pet urine is one of the most damaging and persistent substances a rug can be exposed to. When urine first contacts a rug, it is acidic — but as it dries and the bacteria within it break it down, it becomes highly alkaline and produces ammonia gases. These gases are what cause the strong, lingering odour.

Standard cleaning methods — including household carpet cleaners and even many professional in-home services — treat only the surface of the rug. The urine soaks deep into the pile, through the backing, and often into the underlay. Surface treatment can temporarily mask the odour, but heat and humidity cause it to return — sometimes stronger than before.

Additionally, urine can cause permanent colour damage. The high alkalinity bleaches natural dyes, and in hand-made rugs with vegetable-based dyes, this can be irreversible if not treated quickly. Repeated urination in the same spot causes the fibre structure to weaken and eventually break down.

Important: The longer pet urine sits untreated in a rug, the harder it is to remove. If you have a fresh incident, contact us immediately — faster treatment gives the best outcome.

How We Treat Pet Urine in Rugs

Our treatment goes deeper than any surface method — we address the urine at every level of the rug, from pile to backing.

UV Light Identification

We use ultraviolet (UV) light to identify all urine-affected areas — including hidden or old spots that are invisible in normal light. This ensures we treat every contaminated zone, not just the obvious ones.

Enzyme Pre-Treatment

We apply a professional-grade enzyme-based solution to all affected areas. Enzymes break down the uric acid crystals at a molecular level — eliminating the source of the odour rather than masking it. The solution is left to dwell for the time required to fully break down the contamination.

Full Immersion Wash

The rug is fully immersed and washed — allowing water and cleaning solution to penetrate through the entire rug structure. This flushes the broken-down urine contamination out from the pile, backing, and foundation. A surface clean simply cannot achieve this.

Deodorising Treatment

After washing, we apply a specialised deodorising treatment to neutralise any remaining odour compounds. This step is tailored to the specific type and severity of the contamination.

Controlled Drying & Final Inspection

The rug is dried in our climate-controlled facility. Once dry, we inspect it under UV light again — and do a final nose-test — to confirm the odour has been fully eliminated before returning it to you.

Targeted Stain Removal for Rugs

Beyond pet urine, we treat a wide range of stubborn stains — from wine, coffee, and food spills to oil, ink, and paint. Each stain type requires a different approach, and our team selects the right treatment agent for each fibre and stain combination.

  • Wine & CoffeeTannin-based stains treated with targeted extraction techniques.
  • Oil & GreaseSolvent-based pre-treatment breaks down oil bonds before washing.
  • Food & SauceProtein and starch-based stains responded to with enzyme pre-soak.
  • Ink & PaintCareful spot treatment — results depend on rug fibre and product type.

Note: Some stains — particularly those left untreated for an extended period or caused by certain chemicals — may not be fully removable. We will always give you an honest assessment.

Pet Stains We Treat

Dog Urine

High volume, often repeated in the same spot. We treat the full depth of penetration and address any secondary bacterial contamination.

Cat Urine

Cat urine is more concentrated and contains felinine — making it notoriously difficult to remove. Our enzyme treatment is specifically effective against cat urine compounds.

Pet Faeces

Solid and liquid waste from any pet — we treat and sanitise the affected area using antimicrobial solutions, ensuring full odour and bacteria elimination.

Vomit & Bile

Pet vomit contains digestive acids that can damage dye and fibre if not treated promptly. We address both the stain and the acidity.

Old / Set-In Stains

Even long-set stains can often be significantly reduced. We assess old contamination honestly and advise you on the realistic outcome before we proceed.

Multiple Spots

Rugs with widespread contamination — sometimes from years of accidents — receive a full soaking treatment to address every area simultaneously.

Safe for Your Pets, Family & Rug

Every product we use in our pet urine treatment is carefully selected to be effective against contamination while being safe for the people and animals in your home.

  • Biodegradable, non-toxic enzyme solutions
  • pH-balanced — safe for wool, silk, and natural dyes
  • No harsh chemicals or bleach
  • Rug returned fully rinsed — no chemical residue left behind
  • Safe for children and pets when returned

Honest Assessment, Always

We will always give you an honest assessment before we begin work. In some cases — particularly with very old or deeply set urine damage — we may not be able to achieve 100% removal. If that is the case, we will tell you upfront, explain what we can achieve, and let you decide how to proceed. We never guarantee results we cannot deliver.
